Spectacular launch ahead: the debut of Hilton’s LXR brand in APAC will be one you don’t want to miss.

Hilton announces the new signing of their inaugural LXR property in Asia, set to open in 2021.

The opening will follow the success of Hilton’s Kyukaruizawa Kikyo Curio Collection property in Nagano, Japan.

Hilton’s soft brand LXR Hotels and Resorts is gearing up for its Japanese debut after a deal was signed between the international hotel group and leading real estate organisation Tokyu Land Corporation.

The hotel will mark the brand’s first appearance in the Asia Pacific market and will be in the famous Japanese city of Kyoto. The LXR brand is a collection of unique properties, each of which offers adventurous guests an immersive and unforgettable experience in the coveted destinations they call home.

Matt Fry, Senior VP for Development, Asia Pacific, Hilton, spoke of the signing, saying, “Japan is a popular destination for both business and leisure travel, and Kyoto has set tourism consumption records for five consecutive years topping one trillion Yen.”

“Today’s much-awaited announcement builds on the expertise of Tokyu Land Corporation as well as Hilton’s legacy of delivering world-class luxury experiences. We are confident that this exclusive resort will redefine authentic and immersive luxury experiences in Kyoto.”
An iconic location

The LXR property will open in Kyoto in 2021 as part of the Shozan Resort Kyoto, from where visitors will be able to experience some of Japan’s most charming sites, such as Japanese gardens, historic Japanese architecture, authentic tea houses, and restaurants offering authentic local fare.

This 114-key hotel will be set against the backdrop of the Takagamine mountains in the north of the city, and iconic Kyoto landmarks such as the Kinkaku-ji “Golden Pavilion” and the Koetsuji and Genkoan Temples are just a stone’s throw away.

Hilton is betting on Kyoto after the success of their Curio Collection property, the Kyukaruizawa Kikyo, in the central Japanese city of Nagano.

“We are pleased to announce the opening of LXR’s first luxury hotel in Asia Pacific through our partnership with Hilton, following the success of our property in Karuizawa. The new hotel’s location is a place where guests can escape the hustle and bustle of the city,” said Tatsuaki Tanaka, operating officer of Tokyu Land Corporation.

“We are looking forward to welcoming visitors in this beautiful, historic area where the legendary Rinpa school, one of the major historical schools of Japanese painting, was established by Hon’ami Koetsu 400 years ago,” Mr Tanaka elaborated.
