With its proximity to Hyde Park and Kensington Palace, Bayswater in West London is recognised for its streets lined with grand terraces of white stucco houses and garden squares. Among them is an iconic building and former department store – Whiteleys – soon to become home to Six Senses London.
The hotel, wellness club and spa mark the brand’s entry into the UK and will open in 2023 with 110 guest rooms and suites, starting from 355 square feet (33 square metres) and celebrating the building’s origins, while making space for modern living. There will also be 14 branded residences, with owners able to tap into all the privileges that come with a Six Senses home, including bespoke interior design, concierge service, dining, housekeeping and wellness programming.
To pay homage to this heritage”
CEO at Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, Neil Jacobs, said: “I feel nostalgic when talking about Whiteleys. I grew up in the neighbourhood and my parents used to bring me here. It is a wonderful opportunity to pay homage to this heritage and bring our brand values to life in this part of town while celebrating our first port of call for Six Senses in the UK.”
Accor has further increased its footprint in the central Queensland market having acquired a franchise agreement with Mandala Asset Solutions for their recently purchased Mackay Marina Hotel. The eight-storey, 79-room hotel has been rebranded as Mantra Mackay, becoming Accor’s second property in the central Queensland hub of Mackay, joining the Group’s 152-room ibis Mackay hotel.
Mantra Mackay, which was constructed in 2005 and stands on a prime waterfront site offering views over the Coral Sea, also features a restaurant and bar, fitness centre, swimming pool, four conference and meetings rooms and a business centre.
Mantra Mackay is the city’s only hotel with marina views. It is also only a short drive from Mackay’s city centre and 20 minutes from Mackay Airport.
The Lake House on Canandaigua
The Lake House on Canandaigua is a new hotel designed in collaboration by New York-based firm Studio Tack and family-owned The Brooklyn Home Company.
Formerly a beloved motor lodge owned by the Sands family, The Lake House will offer a residentially-inspired and design forward-hotel, creating a new destination for travellers seeking an active wellness retreat in Upstate New York. Suitable for all four seasons, the venue allows for indoor-outdoor festivities with a breathtaking view of the lake.
The state-of-the-art hotel will be one of the only hotels in the United States fully operated by geothermal power, which is the highest standard of sustainability for heating and cooling.
